I really didn't understand, was there much point in killing me on the third night? Given the low activity and suspicion on the previous day, wouldn't it have been better to leave me as a candidate for hanging/pressure, and instead off someone more stable among the non-mafia?

This is all that damn incomprehensible logic of Yashchur the maf, who is used to playing it safe. They offed you because the obvious blocker Nebo could have been healed or protected. And you could have been a protector/healer.
