And there's also the idea that it's probably better to let players create their own characters with a limited set of information instead of pages from a Wiki. It's very difficult to guess when there are 1000 different links on a page, and they all intersect with each other.
I completely agree. In fact, a name, location, date of birth, and profession are enough. So, characters on the fly will work.
