Yeah, and priests can't retrain troops either... All of this is deeply embedded in the game and isn't readily apparent, so it's impossible to edit and add new classes.
The funniest thing is that originally, all the AI was in a bunch of .xdb files, and this is visible in the resource files of the closed and open beta versions of the game. We and our friends never managed to get the AI listings from the single, huge file, which essentially acts as a container... and then some "genius" jerk from Nival (I don't remember the name) came up with the idea of optimizing the AI code, and all the functionality was simply moved to the core! But originally, the game was designed for easy AI modding... it's just a shame that it's impossible to run the .exe files of the closed and open beta versions due to the built-in Star-Force protection! There was information that some talented people created a tool for decompiling software protected by this thing!
