Regarding creatures and mythology, initially, the creatures in the castles were almost entirely based on mythological prototypes and were grouped according to their habitat and worldview, around certain classes of heroes. That's why gnomes and elves lived in the forest and were equally good, romantic knights killed dragons and saved princesses, and evil sorcerers settled in dark swamps or caves, gathering an army of monsters. This gave the game a certain fairytale quality.
In Heroes 5, the castles are grouped around specific races, such as humans, elves, dark elves, gnomes, and orcs. This division is widely used and can be found in many different and popular fantasy games, settings, and worlds. But this principle is not native to the Heroes series. Its presence means that the series is losing its identity and originality.
