it's written here that this is NOT a living being turned into undead, but an undead being that became a mage - there was no ritual of eternal night, and they didn't practice necromancy in their lifetime, it's just a skeleton whose soul was able to overcome the self-awareness block
this is a land of the dead, not necromancers, a branch of Dark Souls in our Middle-earth
