After reading this post, it is unfortunately clear that the competitive Heroes scene is dead. I only have one request: please don't call the few remaining competitive players "SoD players."
When I saw the Arena of Convenants map, I really liked how it was made, and I wanted to hold a tournament on it. I liked how it implemented hero progression, spell acquisition, and artifact acquisition. This significantly saves time and allows for an interesting endgame. But most of all, the troops appealed to me. The idea of playing with full stacks of native units, in sizes of several reinforcements, reminded me of old-school Heroes games with friends in hot-seat mode, when we played on fixed maps without Angels and Wyverns for several in-game months. And then we discussed which city was the strongest, whose units were better. So, these two tournaments are about nostalgia, and it's strange to accuse them of some kind of modern perversion that finally killed SoD.
I want to hold a tournament in this format - Arena of Convenants, and which platform it will be on is not so important to me. Moreover, it would even be more convenient on the SoD platform: I wouldn't have to ban the dock in the rules every time and write separate paragraphs addressed to SoD players to convey the idea that hot-seat is almost not felt on this map. I myself have spent incomparably more hours in SoD than in HotA. Before the first tournament, a friend asked if there was such a map in SoD that would be better to play on. But there is no such map in SoD. At least, I didn't find one.
And I don't understand what the problem is. There is a great map that can be called a "neutral ground," where SoD players and HotA players can compete in familiar conditions. Yes, some of the features of HotA are still felt, so SoD players need a little time to get used to it. But it's only a little, and there is nothing too difficult about it, as can be seen in the example of Mathematics. I am not asking anyone to give up SoD and switch to HotA; I am inviting them to play a specific map.
In general, it's very nice to write such negative comments to a person who is trying to revive HeroesWorld and organize online tournaments here, which haven't been held here for ages.
