Good afternoon, thank you very much for sharing your walkthrough of this map.

Can anyone tell me if SoD is specifically required for this map? When I tried playing on HotA, I reached a dead end; there's no way forward, or am I missing something?

And is it possible to download SoD somewhere now?

This is a SoD map; I think the obvious mistake was trying to play it on HotA. I use an excellent database for downloading Heroes maps; the site works perfectly, and I’ve never had any problems.
