As far as I remember, the cities of Ingvar and Brand have the Tear of Ashi, which theoretically should make the stat increases comparable to those of the player, but it seems that in a battle between identical armies, the player is significantly stronger.

I agree that by the end of the game, there aren't many interesting battles left. And there isn't much dynamic gameplay either; no one is chasing or attacking anyone, but it's impossible to have a different kind of gameplay in a scenario with a single hero
