Damn, I just realized that The Living Tombstone is the same guys who sang No Mercy!
Then everything falls into place; I really like the way the guy sings without electronic processing (in My Ordinary Life and No Mercy), but I didn't like that song from Spelunky because he's not there. A girl sings there, and it's processed.
And, by the way, there's also backing vocals in My Ordinary Life, and that affected how I perceived the song.

Just recently, a little over two weeks ago, Irene Cara passed away.
You probably don't know her, but she sang
