I'm playing as an Elf and upgraded "Luck of the Road," but it didn't work until I took "Soldier's Luck." This is at level 5 or higher.
And they criticized the skill wheel for no reason – the skills that appear most often are exactly the ones you want to upgrade. My Arantir, thanks to the abundance of useful skills, already resembles an impenetrable killing machine by level 24 (sorry for the pun).
I'm playing as Vinrael, level 29, and the ultimate ability is just awful: it gives useless things, or it gives two of what's needed at once. Moving through the new skill wheel requires a different approach.
I agree about the "Hive"; it was too small even for level 3.
Regarding the assembled artifacts for Rangers, there are plenty, and they could have added the "Phoenix Cloak." And the quiver is a good thing, especially when the cart is destroyed.
