Stacy Kittyclaw had lost her inspiration.
No, she still loved her job. Although her name wasn't on the list of Sakuramoria's most famous artists, she was well-known in certain circles, had several regular clients, and a steady stream of customers, which was enough for a comfortable life, even with a little caviar. Her paintings were loved and admired. And Stacy, in turn, loved her clients. She took great pleasure in noticing the details of their appearance, creating suitable images, and emphasizing the beauty and uniqueness of each client. She genuinely loved people and believed that everyone was beautiful in their own way. And she managed to convey her vision and love onto the canvas with such delightful and slightly unsettling accuracy that her clients were ready to carry her on their hands.
But it no longer brought her joy.
Perhaps she was just tired. Many of her clients moved in the same circles, which meant they had similar preferences, taste in clothing, and ideas of beauty. They followed the same fashion and adapted to the same trends. More and more often, Stacy found herself mechanically painting another portrait, no longer thinking about how interesting the model's appearance was or how well she had managed to emphasize the image. She rarely had the opportunity to paint for herself.
Today, Stacy decided that it was time for a change. She rescheduled all her sessions with models for other days, freeing up this day exclusively for herself. She woke up leisurely, made a light breakfast. Then she got dressed, grabbed her trusty sketchbook, and went to the park.
After a few hours, her notebook was slowly starting to fill up. Unfortunately, only a couple of people agreed to pose or sat still long enough. Mostly, she had to settle for quick sketches – pleasant and useful, but it was just a warm-up, a training exercise, not a challenge for a professional. However, Stacy's mood improved. She decided to reward herself with something tasty and went into the first cafe she saw – "Claire's."
While enjoying a delicious pastry with fragrant tea, Stacy habitually scanned the room in search of a model.
Her gaze fell on an announcement.
"Student Beauty Contest?"
Of course, Stacy had heard of NAILS. A bright future, everything for the children, and so on. There were also other rumors circulating about the academy that made your blood run cold. It was a little scary for the students, but this concern was in the background – after all, Stacy had her own life and her own problems. But what seemed significant was that NAILS was attended by people from all over the world, from all social classes, of all races and religions. A kaleidoscope of incredibly bright images and ideas, a celebration of youth and the joy of life.
Yes, this is exactly what she needed.
Stacy already felt inspiration filling her and giving her strength.
Almost jumping with excitement, she bought a ticket.
I might replace the picture later; I searched with a terrible connection.
