Thiosec examined the camera with interest. He had seen this technological marvel before; visitors to his father's museum sometimes brought them. However, he had never used one himself. He considered not just testing the device but also trying to understand its mechanism, figuring out how it worked and why. But now, he had a different task.

-- Well, here's the worst half of the first year gathered together. Luckily, we have an expert on advanced technology with us – I haven't seen anything like this before, let alone read about it in books. No offense, but a portrait is probably not our thing – we don't have the right kind of faces, and there's already a gang of Mihos running around in Alma. We could take pictures of boring landscapes or architecture. Maybe we can even find an interesting view if we wander around a bit and look closely. Or, I have a better idea – let's stage a duel and film it. Everyone loves duels – they're even promoting them in the student council. Like, Gideon and I take pistols and he shoots – obviously, without a lead bullet. Or we could put on armor and dress up in old-fashioned clothes. The main thing is to have drama, some kind of highlight. Any other ideas?
At first, he wanted to say something like, "Yes, let's take a picture of me as if I'm winning a duel," but Gideon quickly came to his senses.
— Film two students with unremarkable faces pretending to kill each other? — he looked at Fortis with slight surprise. — Well, it's certainly exciting, and it sounds interesting... But it seems a bit gloomy, I don't know. It's as if the only thing that matters is fighting and maiming, which is probably not quite appropriate.
The young man glanced at Clivia for a moment, then continued.
— Other ideas... Well, I don't think a landscape is necessarily a boring option. We could, for example, climb onto the roof and take a picture of the academy grounds from above; it's not locked, I think. There's a pretty good view from up there, right, Vailis? Or maybe we should wander around and look at nature, the park, or somewhere else; it's the right season for such walks, and maybe we'll come up with something.
