Varya wasn't sure what to do or what she could say. Judging by Stella and Yukka's expressions, they had gone through a serious ordeal, but what exactly it was wasn't clear to an outside observer. Varya would have liked to buy them something as a gesture of goodwill, but unfortunately, the ill-fated scroll had depleted her funds. After standing in the doorway for a while and almost tearing up from her thoughts, the refitter finally approached decisively and embraced Yukka (unless she showed any signs that she might not like it).

Leila's eyes widened in surprise when she saw Stella and Yukka, who seemed to have left the academy. Both girls were wearing their uniforms, which meant they weren't just passing through. One might think that the first one was reinstated as a student after the dismissal of General Mandrake, whose methods were escalating with each new month, but that wouldn't explain what Yukka was doing here. Perhaps the administration decided that since they were going to bring Stella back, it would be fair to give Yukka the same opportunity? Did this mean that other students who had left NAILS would also get a similar chance? Or was this just a new phase of the experiment being conducted here? In any case, Yukka and Stella looked rather listless, and they didn't seem like themselves. In her normal state, the enei would briskly walk from display case to display case, looking with interest at the items on display.
