After the ceremony held last week, the first joint lecture began in a tense atmosphere — students were whispering to each other about something, some were casting sidelong glances at Futaba, others were simply not in the mood. Despite this, the new lecturer behaved as if nothing had happened.
— By a fortunate coincidence, today's scheduled lecture is dedicated to the ancient religion of my homeland, so I am more than confident in my knowledge on this topic. Well then, let us begin!
The Moon

Before the spread of the Church of Dante in the north, the worship of the Moon was widespread across Refitea and its adjacent territories — along with the Sun, one of the two main objects in the sky. This is due to the fact that nights in the north are long and cold, and in the moonlight ancient people found a guide through the darkness and hope for a brighter tomorrow. Over time, the image of the Moon was endowed with human features, and as a result, in addition to the round white disc and the crescent, it began to be depicted as shown in the image on the left.

To understand the significance of this deity for the northerners, one can look at the name of the capital of Refitea, Lungrad, which translates as "city of the Moon." Beyond the northern continent, the Moon is known as the "matron of the north," which emphasizes her image as a patron goddess of people, their protector and nurturer, who taught them to live in the harsh conditions of the north.

In their personal lives, followers of the Moon adhered to the idea of "living by one's own mind," that is, they fought against temptations and in their judgments sought to attain the truth, bypassing their own prejudices and externally imposed opinions. For the society in which they lived, this meant that, according to the logic of the moon worshipers, moral actions increased the common good, while immoral ones diminished it and led to the destruction of civilization and human souls. Given that life in the north was hard, the moon worshipers trained themselves and their children to face life's trials as a common occurrence, i.e., to play with the cards they were dealt, preserving their sanity and dignity.

By now, there are almost no followers of the Moon left, and they are typically found only in secluded settlements of Refitea, far from civilization.

The relationship between the Moon and other gods remains unstudied, and her divine origin is called into question. Nevertheless, no one disputes the Moon's influence on our world to this day. It has been proven that the Moon affects air pressure, causes temperature changes, influences wind behavior, affects tides, and water levels.
