While the students were voting and Duncan was counting the votes, Ianira decides to play the piano. Now, at least, the academy could rest assured that it wouldn't be left without a musician on its faculty.

After the voting ended, the students had to spend a whole half-hour listening to an impromptu performance by the new teacher, and only after that time did Duncan Mandragora reappear on stage. It was hard to say what had taken him so long, whether it was related to the academy's regulations or whether he simply wanted to create a specific atmosphere before announcing the results. Be that as it may, he held a sheet of paper with the voting results in his hand and was ready to begin reading them out.
