I also dug into ToE maps — in the very first campaign map there, there's also a QB without a refusal argument. Or maybe the game complains about the third argument because I'm using a transmitter variable to the text file "<TestWork_mp>"?
To be honest, I haven't analyzed it that thoroughly, but I simply had similar errors, and most likely you're right: they occur when passing variables to the file. (I opened my map's script, and there are quite a few messages without refusal functions here, yet none of them transmit data). However, in the case of MessageBox specifically, nothing has ever broken for me personally.
