“Oh, I think I broke a nail…” Nira squeaked, wiping away tears, her face etched with profound sadness as she examined her bruised arm.
While the other students were preparing for exams and discussing historical lectures, she was practicing shooting at targets, both stationary and moving, a skill greatly enhanced by the physical training of the past month. Ultimately, she felt she could rate her skills at an 8 out of 10, and everything would have been fine, but for the first time in her life, fate decided to play a cruel trick on her.
In the first few moments, Nira's vision blurred with anger and resentment. For a second, she imagined walking up to her friend with her usual smile and then, with a swift movement, knocking her brains out. Fortunately, the spell broke as quickly as it had come, so quickly that no one would have noticed.
“Cass, you’re such a goofball, hee hee! 👍” She hugged her friend with her good arm and patted her on the shoulder. “And the rest of our girls won’t let us down either! You’ll protect me from the bullies later, heh. 😂 Rip them all to shreds!”
Worse friends and a worse class. And this after so many hours of training. Even after the grand gesture of throwing all their notebooks into the local library so they wouldn’t be a distraction. What a disgrace. Perhaps disappearing into the ground right now would be the best thing.
