After reflecting for some time on what she should depict on the canvas, Leila quickly settled on what she considered the best option. She decided to paint the person through whose efforts she had ended up in NAILS. The person thanks to whom she could live her life the way it was. She decided to paint her father on the canvas, pouring all her warmest feelings into her work. Without his love and care, without his self-sacrifice, she would not be sitting here now. And it was precisely that sacrifice, that sense of duty to live her life for the both of them, that gave the Taiman woman strength for new endeavors. It would be hard to find a person who had a greater influence on her fate than Lionel Squill.
At first, Leila thought of depicting her father in his more stern image, dressed in military uniform. But then she decided that would be too detached a choice. Besides, Lionel himself would surely have wanted to be remembered first and foremost as a father, not an officer. And so she went about it somewhat differently. As the basis for the scene, the Taiman woman took a moment from life when, on a rare day off for her father, the weather had turned terribly bad. And how he, despite the downpour, kept his promise to take a walk with his daughter. Even though it had been quite chilly outside that day, that moment was one of Leila's warmest memories. The resulting painting she named quite simply, albeit not too originally — "A Walk in the Rain."
