I can't help but agree with your words; in a broader sense, the initiative is a good one.
For now, all that remains is to believe in a miracle and support the current projects (from Waterfall and 5.5) in every way possible, so that the game can continue to live on.
And if I may digress a bit about Warcraft, I don't trust Blizzard. Although, perhaps after they bought the company, something will change, but I doubt it.
I have much more faith in modders – they are usually passionate and fanatical people who value the community.
