A very pleasant start with a max-sized crypt, stables nearby, and treasure chests. Also got lucky with an unguarded village, thanks to which I broke into Luna at the treasure zone on 117, camping on a pandora. On 121 I burn through 20 horses, and anticipating 15k experience, I check the tavern and see a Green Dragon, which on the next turn levels up nicely through a creature bank. Luna burns through the pre-mined Dragon Fly Hive, and a split forms for the Green Dragon, which by 122 became level 14 – two pandoras of 6k were found further on, totaling 15k. Meanwhile, on the other front, the main army is fighting, which under the command of Bogarus takes down Griffin Conservatory #1. At that timing, everything seemed wonderful – resources, split, I started building the mage guild on 117. Then progress slowed down relatively – this was due to Town Portal from the penultimate town. On 125 I took crazy risks, leaving the enemy's castle unguarded and the Green Dragon near a centaur. Miraculously survived. The roads weren't the best, I decided to take the enemy's 3k army through a roadless passage, over snow. However, I got lucky with a 0-cap portal, which had a resource gatherer: it led straight to the adjacent zone of the purple player, whom I captured, and through this little portal I managed to take the castle on 131. Honestly, if not for the abundance of resources and the early construction of the control building, I would have been very disheartened: Dimension Door came from the last town, on 133. But if the map was rich in resources, in terms of objects for meat and artifacts, it was very scarce – only one artifact sphere was scouted, which gave me a "useless" Sword of Judgement, Hourglass of the Evil Hour, and a 4/4 Crown. The split was killed on 132 with Dimension Door, which felt like a joke of the game: how is it that I've been building all-out since early on, yet the opponent still gets it before me, and applies it so successfully. The thing is, the distances between towns were quite long, and it's clear that in such a situation, the SoD logisticians perform their best. In short, out of desperation, I jumped into a control building on the turn I got it, hoping to get something – and a miracle unexpectedly happened: the Rib Cage! The last artifact for Armor of the Damned, and well, with the Sword of Judgement, that's the old, trusty combo, especially with the lack of other stats, it gave hope. On 134 I made an attempt to take the castle where someone (Deesa) was staying in the fort, didn't think through the assault option, although, to be honest, maybe it turned out for the best: there might have been a 20+ all Gunnar with all combat skills and an elixir staying there, and a 10 all Green Dragon with Armor of the Damned might not have been able to handle that. In the end, what happened: 12 hours of gameplay, I fly into a control building with Luna, planning to find Dragon Fly Hives there, leave heroes vulnerable, ultimately losing a valuable support hero. Fortunately, the opponent stays in the village, feeling his dominance on all fronts. Luna returns from the control building empty-handed (I must say, the map was generally poor: upon uncovering it, it turned out we had practically consumed all the valuable content by that time) and resurects the army, while the Green Dragon finishes the job with the old, trusty combo.
A sweaty game, thanks for the match!
