Thanks to information from a kind woman, the guides were prepared for the attack of both the crazed monkeys and the demonic outcasts. However, the fact that the enemies were able to find common ground and join forces came as a great shock to Tao – because that is exactly what he had been warning everyone about all along.
The first part of the battle went relatively smoothly thanks to the excellent leadership of their commander, but in the second part, the enraged gorillas gave Tao a good beating. At some point, the warrior also became enraged and stopped dodging blows altogether.
“Ha, pathetic monkeys!” Tao laughed angrily, pounding his fist on his chest. “Even my deceased grandmother hits harder!”
For Tao, this seemed like battle rage, for their healer – a thankless task, but in the end, the warrior remained standing, and the beasts fell.
Still intoxicated by the brutal skirmish, Tao approached one of the corpses. The disfigured carcass of the beast lay on the ground, soaked in the fresh mess of remains; the monster's chest was distorted by a powerful spell; dirty blood mixed with brain matter gushed profusely from the shattered skull. Waving the crimson blade of his dagger, Tao pierced the monkey's chest and, leaning on his leg, opened the bone structure covered in dirty black fur. Then Tao plunged his hand into the beast's carcass and tore out the still warm, forever frozen heart.
“To the glory of the Goddess!” the warrior roared, crushing the heart with a sharp squeeze of his fist, after which he brought down his heavy foot on the monkey's skull, causing it to explode like an overripe watermelon.
