Zamiah’s story was close to the version of events that Airlys herself was inclined to believe. She was not surprised by the knight’s rank either – few people could boast such skill or afford such high-quality equipment. Nevertheless, it still didn’t shed light on the reason for the conflict between Mukus and his rival. Was it a misunderstanding, as a result of which Zamiah’s lover mistook Mukus for an accomplice of that trio? Was it Mainhard’s overwhelming desire for revenge, which Mukus was trying to prevent him from fulfilling? If so, Airlys found it difficult to justify Mainhard’s loss of self-control, especially in light of his alleged position. But perhaps she was missing something, and the knight’s violent reaction was caused by something else, or even a combination of different reasons. In any case, it was difficult to say for sure. What was clear was that this incident would not affect Arwen in any way. But the Kaolian could do nothing about it. All that remained was to pray to the Seven that in the afterlife, Zamiah and her lover would reunite and find the peace they desired.
