Ashur buys Grey Wind, issue #12.
Note from Zamia Zun
"I was always clumsy and socially awkward, and communicating with other people was difficult for me – I struggled to put my thoughts into words, and traits like submissiveness and shyness made me a laughingstock among my peers. In Lily society, where a woman is primarily a leader and manager, such behavior on my part only evoked pity or contempt from those around me. And yet, even someone like me was lucky enough to find a loved one. After the occupation of Aeolia eight years ago, I met Mainhard Filssegger, an officer in the armed forces of Dithlind, who was sent to Arven to maintain order, quite by chance. He was strong, gentle, reliable, and very passionate in his feelings, whether it was love or devotion to his duty. He was the complete opposite of someone useless like me, and yet... He loved me for who I was. The time I spent with him was the happiest in my life, but over the years, our relationship faced certain obstacles – due to his duties, he had to return home, and we began to see each other rarely and far from the city – by the lake, because the appearance of a high-ranking officer in the area where Queen Celestia was under house arrest created certain difficulties for everyone involved in the life of this city.
On that fateful day, as we had done many times before, we were supposed to meet by the lake and spend a couple of hours together – I didn't want to leave my shop for too long and cause inconvenience to my customers, and he couldn't afford more free time, but when I went into the forest, something went wrong. Mainhard was apparently delayed, and instead, I was met by those I wanted to see the least... I remember being tied to a tree, stones being thrown at me, insults being hurled... and many other things. This hell ended only with the appearance of Mukus Mun, the consort of Queen Celestia, who is respected throughout Arven. With a firm hand, but a gentle will, he taught my tormentors a lesson, freed me, and tried to provide medical assistance, and then everything became a blur... From the sudden relief, I apparently lost consciousness. When I woke up, I wished I hadn't woken up at all. According to the words of Mainhard's killers, he and Mukus had some kind of disagreement, which led to a conflict between them, but could it really be that way? Why would they need to fight, for what reason? Both, although strong warriors, had tender hearts...
Be that as it may, after coming to my senses, I realized that I don't want to continue living without my beloved, and therefore I plan to leave this world and leave my shop and all its contents to the Temple of Superbia in gratitude for their care."
The Arven incident is still under investigation, but the deeper the detectives dig, the more confusing everything becomes. In the first days after this event became known, the most popular theory was the version of a conflict between the occupier and the victim of the occupation, but the investigation of the identity of the murdered knight refuted this theory. Colonel Mainhard Filssegger, in addition to his duties in the armed forces of Dithlind, was also the leader of the "Koexistenz" Faction, which advocated for the coexistence of different peoples, including demons, and therefore it is difficult to imagine what kind of conflict he could have with someone like Mukus Mun, known for his patriotism and peacefulness. So far, readers are inclined to believe that both men were vying for the heart of Zamia Zun, but some think that there may not have been any duel between them at all.
