It's impossible to play locally (via Hamachi) with a friend; the game won't let us connect because of unofficial modifications. (1: Yes, there are mods, but we've already played several maps with them, and everything was fine; the game didn't complain. The mods are default and don't directly affect the gameplay, like a skill tree in the game, displaying the city bonus in its description, or showing the number of creatures numerically, etc.). 2: Yes, each of us downloaded the map (not just the host); we tried that, but it didn't help. 3: Yes, other custom maps work, and they work with our mods. For example, we played the "Heart of the Volcano" map, which we downloaded from this same forum, with the mods). We've probably figured out the reason (though not for sure) – it's because of the different character models and possibly new skills (in other words, direct intervention in the game). When this map was created, Ubisoft still maintained the Heroes servers, but now, in 2021, the servers have been shut down. If you don't use third-party websites where the community is, and you just want to play with a friend, you can only do that through Hamachi. Therefore, the game is now more sensitive to different mods and won't let us connect. We're asking the author or someone who understands map creation better than my friend and me – is it possible to fix this? It's a really good map, but we can't play it together. We've searched through the map, but we couldn't find the codes or items that change the character models and their skills (we're not experts in this, so of course, we couldn't find them).
