Out of curiosity, Shanaz looked into the local news publication and learned about a contest being held there. Reasoning that some extra money wouldn't hurt, she decided to spend some time participating. After some deliberation, the girl decided to put the Lungwort banner in first place, although she had initially planned to give it a lower position – it was definitely one of the best in the list, but there were a couple of entries that pleased her more. Partly, a certain politeness played a role, but partly also the fact that the banner was used in the clothing of some residents, in the uniforms of law enforcement, and in the design of buildings. Of all the other contestants, only the banner of her native Heckeklia had a similar advantage and also received a fairly high ranking. Shanaz found it somewhat ironic that the banner of Arisufir, despite the empire's pomp and its obsession with appearance, turned out to be rather tasteless and was barely above the banners of Aster and Nortia – countries that did not share Arisufir's ambitions and were known as places devoid of warmth and joy.
