Old heroes (1 and 2) on Windows 10.

Has anyone encountered this...? Suddenly, without doing anything to the game, without updating anything, after completing scenario 1, Island of Wizards, the game freezes completely when: building, changing turns, winning against an opponent, losing to an opponent, basically mostly when the game needs to do something graphically.
I was running and playing it through DXWnd, and I haven't changed anything in the settings, and this problem occurs...
