Now that you've decided on your next course of action, I'll say this... Judging by what has been written about this character, it seems that no one really understood him. He is aware that he is in a foreign country, and therefore he observes some basic rules and, moreover, when some bandits shoot him in the eye, he gives them a chance to explain themselves and seeks reconciliation. He doesn't demand money "for treatment." He doesn't demand that they kiss his boots. He simply says, "Well, you're quite the uncouth bunch," and even that is in a very polite manner compared to the situation. At the same time, he looks at the situation from a position of strength – he has already given you a chance after you attacked him without reason, and then someone who is clearly weaker than him starts to act arrogant after what they did just a minute ago. How else is he supposed to react? Even after all that has happened, he is still willing to give everyone a chance to resolve the situation peacefully. To be honest, I am even a little surprised by this turn of events. In my mind, this was supposed to be a simple quest, but with each action, the situation escalated more and more. Even the "boorish, uncouth guards" wouldn't have gone this far.
