Now that you've decided on your next course of action, let me tell you... It seems that no one really understood the character of this person, judging by what was written about him earlier. He is aware that he is in a foreign land, and therefore he observes some basic rules and, moreover, when some bandits shoot him in the eye, he gives them a chance to explain themselves and seeks reconciliation. He doesn't demand money "for treatment." He doesn't demand that they kiss his boots. He simply says, "Well, you're quite the uncouth bunch," and even that is in a very polite manner compared to the situation. At the same time, he looks at the situation from a position of strength – he has already given you a chance after you attacked him without reason, and now someone who is clearly weaker than him is acting arrogant after what they did just a minute ago. How else is he supposed to react? Even after all that has happened, he is still willing to give everyone a chance to resolve the situation peacefully. To be honest, I am even a little surprised by this turn of events. In my mind, this was supposed to be a simple quest, but with each action, the situation has escalated more and more. Even the "boorish, uncouth guards" wouldn't have let things escalate to this point.
