Gladiators
Throughout the long history of Vusteria, fights against ferocious animals or other opponents for the amusement of the public were practiced in many places, but in our time, when someone mentions the word "gladiator," it most often refers to the fighters of the Serberian arenas. In Serberia, which in the past practiced slavery towards conquered peoples, the right to challenge the arenas of the kingdom was undeniable, and for slaves, it was a rare opportunity to change their social status in the hope of gaining precious freedom. For some, however, the gladiator's life was their destiny from birth: the children of slaves were sometimes prepared for battles from childhood, and upon reaching adulthood, few of them chose a different path, as they were not accustomed to any other life.

The most important things for the gladiators of Serberia have always been resilience and resourcefulness: the opponent could be anyone, so the fighters had to be able to use several types of weapons and have great endurance; otherwise, they risked losing simply because their fighting style was incompatible with the opponent.

The decline of deadly duels came with the rise to power of Albert der Grosse. The victor of the civil war banned fights to the death, and since then, the gladiator profession has almost ceased to exist; however, thanks to Vincent Chevalier, the "last gladiator," who founded his own school of martial arts, his methods of training and combat will be preserved for many years to come.
