I read through the walkthroughs of my fellow tournament participants and concluded that such a large lead in gold was achieved through a more productive first day, while the one-day lag was a result of capturing more castles than I did. Destroying fewer computer-controlled opponents in less than 7 days was quite possible, but the Grail wasn't ready by that time.

I was pulling my hair out yesterday because I didn't have enough time for another replay... Even from my own description, I can see that it took seven days... At a minimum, a lot of money...
I only replayed once, and even then, I played until the 5th day and realized that I was going in the wrong direction... P.S. It's a shame that many strong players didn't participate in this tournament.
