Which Might and Magic universe are you referring to?

As is well known, some time after the dissolution of New World Computing, Ubisoft, the new owners of the Might and Magic brand, introduced a new game setting – Ashan. Ubisoft abandoned the previous M&M universe created by John Van Caneghem and NWC. Within the Ashan setting, games such as Heroes of Might and Magic 5 with two expansions and Dark Messiah of Might and Magic were created. Which of the two universes do you consider to be better? Please provide arguments for your choice.
