One might have assumed that Alaria's eyes would soon be met with scenes of inhuman atrocities and torture, for which the Sithian lands are so renowned, but Milik's art proved to be of a very different sort. The merchant had not lied, and such works were indeed capable of pleasing a connoisseur's eye, and in the paintings of the queen-progenitor of this unusual people, one could even sense a feeling of love so uncharacteristic of northerners. However, such canvases, despite their vividness and the mastery of the author's hand, Catharsis would scarcely hang in her own home. After all, she was the ruler of entirely different lands, which would undoubtedly raise questions among her guests.
But the more neutral figurines, though they depicted Sithian women, were not only far more neutral than the masterpieces of fine art, but also more varied in their appearance. And should some misfortune befall her home, they would be far easier to carry away. And so she decided to spend the coin, taking, so to speak, the full set of six figurines. Especially since one of them — the one whose sword was wreathed in flame — immediately caught Catharsis's eye. It was a pity, of course, that there was not a single Sithian male on the counter, but there was nothing to be done about that.
