The tragedy that occurred in the country and the impending military conflict did not affect Lord Cartridge's outward appearance in any way — he seemed incapable of feeling anxiety, or else knew how to hide it very well from the eyes of those around him. He commented on the fruits of Alaria Doran's labors in his usual modest manner, limiting himself to just a couple of complimentary remarks, but after some time he gave her thoughts a tangible form, which was likely the best reward possible.
Characters with the Silverdawn origin gain access to new skills:
Biocorrosion
Using the unique properties of microorganisms obtained from the underworld, Kaleido Cartridge achieved practical application of their metabolic byproducts.
A character with this skill ignores the enemy's defense.
Sword-Gun
When the trigger is pulled, the oxygen around the sword's surface ignites, briefly gathers at a single point, and then rushes in the chosen direction, prioritizing moving and isolated targets.
Deals 100 damage to the target, applies burn, cooldown 1 turn. Accuracy against mounts +10%, damage +150. Accuracy against flying creatures is further increased by +15%, and damage by +200. Base range: 6. Has no range limit against aerial targets.
To use, must be equipped in a weapon or other slot. Number of charges per battle: 10
Not a Step Back!
At the end of their turn, the leader character restores 10 spirit points to allies.
In exchange for 1 AP, regardless of leader status, restores 20 spirit points to all allies.
Given that she contributed to the creation of these skills, the Knight of Catharsis may learn one of these skills bypassing the learning limit. Later, she must report to the Lord for the next assignment (+7.5 prestige).
It is often said that actions speak louder than words. Lord Silverdawn could be called the embodiment of this expression. The benefit that Kaleido Cartridge extracted from her reasoning was praise for Alaria greater than any kind of flowery speeches. And that was one of the reasons why the Tanarsian sincerely respected her liege.
Of all the innovations, the one she liked the most was, of course, the sword-gun. The great equalizer, through which the sky would be engulfed in the flames of change. In some ways, this invention even reminded Catharsis of her own almost forgotten idea, born many millennia ago in Margel, but never realized either in practice, on paper, or even in conversations with Erefir. But both their form and methods of implementation were different. Her unfinished concept relied on rubies linked to the element of fire at that time, whose energy the device would unleash upon enemies, and would most likely have taken the form of a heavy gauntlet, in contrast to the noble sword created by His Light-Mindedness. And it would hardly have been as effective against fliers.
It was training and testing this invention that Alaria primarily engaged in, not forgetting to check how her favorite techniques worked in tandem with the new weapon. However, the warrior woman did not intend to stop there, and her plans included mastering other equally useful new developments on the battlefield sooner or later. As someone who had a hand in their creation, she felt obliged to achieve mastery in each of them.
But there was a time for everything. While in a period of relative calm Catharsis could have devoted time to additional exercises, in recent days events had a tendency to develop at a dizzying pace, leaving the knight little free time. Lord Cartridge once again needed her skills, and Alaria did not intend to keep her liege waiting.
I am studying the sword-gun. With this weapon, we will burn the heavens! I am replacing the throwing knives with it, and equipping a healing flask in the buckle slot.
