Alsira sat beside the lord's bed, not disturbing the bottomless silence that seemed to have forever chained this sorrowful place. She wished to see, even for a fraction of a moment, a spark of inner struggle, of moral fortitude, but the only response was the lifeless eyes and withered face of the region's ruler. The desire to conceal a nature of dominance behind soft words and a kind disposition was nothing more than an obsessive dream. It turned out she had thought far worse of Ciel than of that symbol of true sincerity that she was in reality. Though how could a person so insignificantly young, unbound by ties of family, loved ones, or kin, even attempt to comprehend the full magnitude of another's tragedy?..
Placing her palm atop the cold hand of the exhausted woman, she gently squeezed the hand and allowed a few brief seconds to pass, after which she rose from her seat and left the bedchamber.
And now these four sat at the same table together with Alsira, who was fulfilling the lordly duties.
- So what are we gonna do? - After the tragedy that had occurred, these four words were the first that the Knight of Dreamy Clouds spoke.
- I have news from the north. I don't know how, but Renavan the Pious has returned. - The Knight of Misty Rain briefly described what had happened in Swordgard, in particular Adata Transcend becoming the new lord.
- So then, my lord Lorican... - The fat man closed his weary eyes, allowing himself a moment of silence.
- And that little fluffball too, huh? - Ober repeated what had already been said. - She seemed the most normal of the trio to me, a shame.
— Two crowned rulers, an ill omen in itself. — spoke the moon shadow. — As if we didn't have enough internal strife already... What is known about the traitors? We had two conspirators in our hands. Over the time that has passed, it seems possible to unravel the story of many years ago. We need to know from whom the treacherous blow was delivered, or whether to expect more. The contacts they kept in touch with and who passed on the orders must be caught. Those who were hired in the same manner must be taken into custody. The old tangled web must be untangled.
It is assumed that by now the subordinates have at least been thoroughly interrogated.
