The battle began with attempts by the riders to deprive each other of their main advantages. Axel attacked the Bastion with the wyvern's flame and his bow, while Orwald struck his opponent's mount with his hammer.
The wyvern fell first. The Knight of the Golden Tower paralyzed it and then finished it off with his hammer. This slightly unsettled the Knight of the Gloomy Sky, causing the man to change his strategy. He now took up his sword and struck at Orwald himself, placing some curse on him with the first blow that made the hammer-wielder's strikes less accurate, causing him to miss more often.
The Knight of the Gloomy Sky continued making weak jabs against his opponent's armor, which were not always successful. The Knight of the Golden Tower, in turn, similarly grazed his opponent's armor while trying to immobilize him.
Due to the heavy armor of the combatants, the duel dragged on considerably. Both knights gradually weakened each other, restored health from their flasks, and then struck again. No matter how much Orwald tried to immobilize his opponent or lower his morale, it was all in vain. Axel steadfastly endured all trials, simultaneously managing to carve up his opponent. In the end, it was this very steadfastness that secured the Gloomy Sky's victory in this battle. The final blow was his.
Note: it seemed that Orwald's usual tactic of immobilization had failed significantly. Each time, Axel froze for the briefest moment, then seemed to magically recover.
