05.03.297 — tournament in honor of Deus Mariarnelia's birthday
Round 6, fight 5.
Sir Orvald de Martelam V vs. Lord Zedil Mox
A battle of hammer-wielders. Both knights began their assault by attacking the animals. Orvald struck first, paralyzing the arachnid, while Zedil only managed to hit the horse on his second blow. Meanwhile, the spider, recovering from the stunning strike, attempted to cast its web on the Knight of the Golden Tower, just as it had with Lester, but he instantly broke free from the webbing.
This shook Orvald's morale and simultaneously enraged him. The man crushed the arachnid with a swing of his hammer, thereby giving the healers a great deal of work. Zedil now began to take hits himself, while still trying to break Bastion. Although he had to endure a series of blows and waste time on a healing potion, he ultimately managed to finish off the horse.
Orvald, however, needed no healing to keep swinging his hammer. But after losing Bastion, he seemed to perform worse, making a whole series of misses. The Knight of Unbridled Violence, however, was not showing the best results either. It was as if they were spending too much time on their wind-ups, preventing both from looking at where to strike in the first place. Why aim when you can just hit?
The series of misses was broken by Zedil, who, though not with great force, still struck his opponent twice. From this entire string of failures, Orvald's morale dropped significantly. But perhaps it was this that awakened the inner beast within the fighter.
The Knight of the Golden Tower made another wind-up, and this time not only did he hit his opponent, but he also temporarily immobilized him. Then another wind-up — again Zedil could do nothing. Watching his exhausted opponent try to recover, Orvald decided not to delay and wound up his hammer a third time. And he did so in such a way that missing was impossible! And so Zedil lay unconscious, while the Knight of the Golden Tower celebrated victory.
Note: towards the end, the battle looked extremely gruesome. It felt as if Orvald was ready to strike Zedil directly on the top of his head with his hammer. And if he had done so, the latter's head would have undoubtedly burst like an overripe watermelon.
