05.03.297 — tournament in honor of the birthday of Deus Mariarnelia
Fight V
Opponent — Sir Orwald de Martelam, Knight of the Golden Tower from Flowers, servant of Lord Githgood Flowersense, adherent of Eidoism.
As soon as Orwald stepped into the arena, I felt an inexplicable weakness. It might have been chalked up to nerves, but when both you and your pegasus feel unwell at the same time, there's reason for doubt. Even more suspicious is that it all disappears immediately after the battle with him ends, and doesn't happen with anyone else! As if, along with himself, the Knight of the Golden Tower brought some kind of haze to the Bastion, which slightly blurred my vision and made my body forget how to move properly.
Following my usual tactic, I tried to shoot the horse. But my opponent didn't hesitate either. Catching up to us without any trouble, he struck Zephyr powerfully with his hammer, paralyzing both him and all my movement. I tried to shoot Bastion in return, but due to my opponent's strange peculiarity, everything in my eyes blurred so much that I shamefully missed. Meanwhile, nothing at all prevented Orwald from finishing off the poor, already immobilized Zephyr.
Now there was no point in trying to unhorse the rider; I started shooting directly at my opponent. However, with his strong armor, it barely affected him. Just a slight scratch. But the hammer blows hit my body quite painfully, gradually draining all my flask reserves. Not to mention that several times Orwald struck so hard that he immobilized me just as he had done to Zephyr earlier.
Perhaps this was primarily what helped him win. Unable to shoot, I slowly endured until my knees buckled and I fell to the ground.
Note: It's not that I lost that stings, but the bloodthirstiness with which the Knight of the Golden Tower beat my Zephyr. In moments like these, I can't help but feel gratitude toward warriors like Lester Vargas, who did not show such cruelty to a defenseless pegasus.
