Heroes of Might and Magic I Tournament Edition is a patch that fixes numerous bugs made by the developers, and also adds unrealized ideas to the game (which were built into the gameplay by the developers themselves, but for some reason remained hidden and unfinished) and will include additions that will give any player the opportunity to immerse themselves in the unforgettable world of Heroes 1 in a new way (more than 200 self-extracting maps, an offline version of the reference site, programs, etc.)!
Current version V.1.02.
Changes and innovations:
Version V.1.00
1. The game no longer requires the original CD or an image and does not conflict with the original version, since all settings are saved in a separate registry branch.
2. The game no longer shows the intro and outro "cutscenes", which reduces restart time.
3. The game no longer loads the processor at 100% (or completely one core on multi-core systems), which significantly reduces heat generation on modern computers (especially laptops), and also lowers the processor power requirements for older systems.
4. The movement points of fled, bribed, killed, and dismissed heroes are reset before the next game day.
5. When transferring slower troops to a hero, their movement points are no longer reduced after closing the hero window.
6. The animation of the "Resurrect" spell has been changed to the presumed original one.
7. The "Fizbin of Misfortune" artifact now reduces luck, not morale, by 3 points. Thus, "Misfortune" has been returned to the game.
8. It is now impossible to leave the playing area using the "Dimension Door" spell.
9. Tavern bugs have been fixed: the appearance of identical heroes in the same tavern or in taverns of different players is now excluded if there are at least two free heroes, which corresponds to the situation when a human player has 8 heroes, and each of his three computer opponents has 6. In practice, a computer player cannot have more than four heroes, which completely eliminates tavern bugs.
10. Fixed bugs related to incorrect determination of the number of remaining creatures if one of the sides fled or surrendered. For example, previously it was possible to turn 9 dragons into 5 by attacking and then retreating with four heroes. Now the number of remaining troops in the armies of both the fled and victorious sides is determined correctly.
11. Fixed a bug that allowed "draining" (defeating) a strong computer player's hero against neutrals, another computer player, an artifact, etc. Now a hero wins a battle if the victory coefficient, depending on the ratio of forces of the sides and determined by the game itself, is more than 0.75. Draining computers in other cases is not restricted, as it is, in essence, a "feature" of the First Heroes.
12. Shipwrecks, demon caves, graveyards, and skeletons with artifacts now give not a random artifact, but the "Fizbin of Misfortune".
13. Fixed the obelisk bug. Now the puzzle map opens correctly.
Version V.1.01
14. Fixed a small issue with movement points: killed, dismissed, fled, and bribed heroes at the turn transition can move on the next day (in version 1.00 - they could not).
15. The map editor is no longer tied to the disk.
Version V.1.02
16. Fixed a bug with draining ultra-strong computers due to overflow when calculating mu-strength (the bug with regular draining of strong computers was already fixed in version 1.00);
17. Fixed a bug with simultaneous draining;
18. Fixed a bug with ghosts (the number of ghosts in a stack increased by double the number of enemies they killed during a retaliation attack);
19. Fixed a bug with the game crashing after a hero with ghosts fled (bribed), if their number at the moment of fleeing (bribing) exceeded the initial number.
20. Thus, now you can normally play tournaments for collecting ghosts.
Instructions:
Unpack the H1TE.exe executable into the game folder and run it. By default, the game will launch in fullscreen mode. Set the settings convenient for you (windowed mode, sound volume, music volume, etc.) and exit the game. All settings will be saved in a separate registry branch (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREBuka3DOHeroes of Might and MagicHeroesWorld TE), so the settings of the original and the tournament version will not conflict.
Note - Since the disk binding has been removed, in order for music to play in CD quality, you need to copy the Tracks folder from the original CD (or from the image) to the game folder, and in the specified registry branch create a string parameter "HMM1 CDDrive" with the value "%GAME%" (without quotes), where %GAME% is the full path to the folder where the game is installed. For example, D:Program FilesHeroes of Might and Magic.
