Like Gulveig, Renold was one of those Calentia wanted to test her skills against in battle. The reason was their shared mentor – the girl knew that someone who had undergone training at Gungnir would not disappoint her and would likely alleviate the unpleasant impressions left after sparring with her friend. The duel turned out to be short-lived – the Serberian deftly dodged the first spear thrust, while the Argalian's second attack found its target at the exact moment that she herself was struck by the last one's saber. The only difference was that while Calentia could still somehow continue the battle, Renold clearly had no strength left for it. Victory. Close to a draw, but still a victory.
—You didn't hold back, did you? — the girl winced slightly in pain. A moment later, she extended her hand to her opponent to help him get up.
—Thank you, but it seems I didn't have enough strength. — the guy tried to smile, but immediately grimaced in pain. With Calentia's help, he got up from the ground and also thanked her for the duel.
The next duel, with Gulveig, was disappointing; Renold, who was already noticeably tired, couldn't land a decisive blow. The fight ended in a draw.
When it was Shino the sorceress's turn, he could only rely on his own agility. From the start, he bravely rushed forward, dodging the spells flying towards him. He successfully jumped aside from the first one, and then, turning his entire body, he managed to barely dodge the second: an air blast passed within a few centimeters, grazing his shoulder. But, unfortunately, the last movement caused Renold to lose his balance and slow down; he stumbled noticeably on the uneven ground, and although he remained on his feet, he had no chance of avoiding the fiery ball launched at him. The impact sent the guy flying backward, landing on his back; the echoes of the explosion rang in his ears, and an unpleasant smell of something burning filled his nostrils.
