The Barony of Baldr could not boast vast lands or a large population, but for the residents of the eponymous town, the domain of Gunnigr von Breckendorf represented an entire world, beyond which they managed to venture only rarely — and not many even aspired to do so, preferring the quiet, measured life of the wilderness over the bustle of a big city. In Baldr, all residents knew each other, and people tried to treat their fellow townsfolk with consideration, though conflicts did occasionally arise. For instance, yesterday's central event was a quarrel between Cecilia and Claudia over religious differences. Claudia, usually patient as an angel, found it difficult to withstand her rival's precisely aimed jabs, and in the end, the baron's wards had to separate the relentless women. That was no easy task, so one might think the young men and women involved in that process deserved some rest — but life had other plans for today. At the earliest hour of morning, Matthias Kessler visited the rooms (or homes) of Gunnigr's wards and brought them back from the realm of dreams into reality — whether colorful or gray depended on the individual.
