I think it would take about six months and be extremely tedious...
unless you only gather rarely, but if you don't need to finish the game in a week and have other things to do, there aren't any major problems. As for the tediousness and drawn-out gameplay, in the first part, this mainly happened because of traps that are found at every turn. But if no one rushes ahead recklessly, constantly dying, it shouldn't be as tedious. In some moments, it's actually easier because you're only responsible for your own inventory, and you can distribute the items so that everyone is responsible for something specific, plus there's different crafting available.
