5) Unfortunately, no; you can ask any player of 5.5 where it's located and what ARMG differs in. You can do this in the 5.5 Discord group.

7) Yes, I meant just the ones that add content. I don't know about balance mods; try NHF.
8) The game files contain music from the original; you just need to rewrite the path to it, not to the add-on's music.
