Ple-Sen
Discord is mainly used by gamers, game developers, and others of that ilk. It has tags for formatting (although I'm not sure if they are as extensive as on forums, and you have to enter them manually), but I've never tried to stuff long posts with them. I usually type them in Notepad or Word, and then add the tags and send them. Basically, to avoid unnecessary questions, I'll make a list of the pros and cons of Discord:
+ You can have multiple channels on one server. That is, there's a channel for the game/a specific location in the game/a group of players, a channel for casual chat (no off-topic posts!), a channel where character sheets are located, a channel with a list of items in stores, a channel with gameplay information, a channel with lore (including books read by the characters), and a channel for dice rolling. You can switch between them with a single click, instead of having a thousand tabs open or searching through your bookmarks.
+ There are programs that allow you to roll dice right in the middle of the game, using a simple command. Not only does this eliminate the need to search for randomizers, but the program also immediately writes down the results of the dice rolls, which reduces the time needed to create a log.
+ If there are several game channels, the player will not only not have to scroll through the posts of other players, but they will also immediately know what was answered to them/their group. And battles will take place faster when done through chat.
+ Custom emojis, for meme lovers. Now you can not only mention Lyda in your comments, but also mark the GM's posts with his face.
+ Discord works more stably than the old forums, and a typo in the formatting tag won't break it.
- The formatting options, although not completely absent, are poorer than on forums.
- Since the forum divides topics into pages, it is more convenient to read old posts on it than in Discord.
