No multi-year shopping trips.
And what will Arandor do?
trying to gather everyone at the same time in the evenings.
It won't work.
Expeditions with side quests and shops are good because you don't have to wait for all the players to make a decision. Every time it comes to a quest involving everyone, the game slows down dramatically, and a lot of gray text appears. The space for role-playing is significantly reduced. Personally, I played the expedition precisely for this reason. And not to wait for Ples to describe the moves of our characters in battle. Or to wait all day for each player to react to an event happening to all the characters at the same time.
I've been suggesting this for a long time so that GMs don't get exhausted. We even had something similar in the form of Lyolek and Bolek's Archives, which were close in length to an average one-shot.
Yes. Your expedition was even shorter. And it was also good.
Personally, for me, the problem with long expeditions is that I simply can't work and run an expedition all day (or even half a day). And fatigue can be easily mitigated with breaks.
