I don't want to use helmets in the style of Lord of the Rings yet – they are too pompous for the militia.
If a fantasy game features a dwarf, their armor will most likely look similar to that in Lord of the Rings. It was cool at first, but now it's getting a bit tiresome.

In my opinion, it looks much better with the new helmets.
I'm not sure about the goggles. At first, I looked at them and wondered why? Then I read that the unit is a mechanic. I took a closer look, and with the goggles, it looks at least interesting and unusual, which means it's good. Maybe, if we develop this theme a bit, we could hang some wrenches on his belt? Or add some kind of gear ornament to his shield/armor to emphasize that he is a mechanic.
The blue one has more blue areas, which is good. But the gray color, it seems, was better when it was lighter.
Overall, in my opinion, it has become significantly better and more interesting.
By the way, I think goggles would look very cool on one of the archers. Maybe it would be better to give them to him.

In general, if we create a style for the race, like technologically advanced, sooty gnomes-mechanics, with trains and other steampunk elements. It could be slightly leaning towards World War I. It should turn out much more interesting and cooler than in the basic Ashan or in most other implementations.
But this style needs to be refined. We need soot. We need technological elements. It needs to feel like the atmosphere of their sooty technological progress.
So far, it's okay.

For now, it rather creates the effect that a medieval gnome was simply given goggles. It seems interesting and unusual. But it's not quite finished. And there is a feeling that it is somehow a little "out of place".
But the idea, as I said, is potentially very interesting.
