On HeroesPortal, something like this is sometimes practiced: there are author(s) who are willing to draw a minimap (i.e., the drawing itself) or create a beautiful rendering of the terrain in exchange for local virtual currency (arroba). They also regularly hold a contest for the best new maps, and the winners are awarded arroba. So, if you have ideas and are willing to draw or spend some money, go there; in particular, here is their forum section "Mapmakers' Table".
And "Heroes Portal" seems to be "dead." And it has been for a while. I downloaded a couple of maps from there – I liked them. I sat down and made a couple of new maps. I registered on HeroX Portal to show them off, but there was no one to show them to. In a week of being on the site, I met only three users and one admin. And that's it... It's a pity. It was a good site, but it's "dead"... :(
