Actually, I think Inarchik could have won even in Solyanovo, but with Sylvan, it was definitely more reliable, even though it ruined the suspense at the end.

The chances are slim. The only way to win was if the main Mafia member grabbed the block and didn't manage to steal the vote, while Inar successfully killed one of the villagers. Then there would be 2 votes for the Mafia, 2 for the town, and 1 for Inar, allowing them to get rid of the Mafia and give the victory to Inar. Otherwise, it would have ended either with the town winning (if Inar killed the main Mafia member) or the Mafia winning (if Inar killed a villager).
