Duncan MacMaster, a well-known fencer and blacksmith from St. Petersburg, has been detained – he is suspected of stabbing two natives of Azerbaijan.

An unequal duel took place on Udarnikov Avenue at midnight. Messrs. Nabiyev and Huseynov emerged from it with losses. One was hospitalized with a penetrating abdominal wound, and the other with wounds to the thigh and shin.

St. Petersburg detectives detained the 42-year-old fencing master on suspicion of attacking two citizens of Azerbaijan with a knife. After meeting with the master, they were hospitalized in serious condition.

It became known that the evening before, the police came to house No. 29/1 on Nastavnikov Avenue for a blacksmith, reenactor, and fencer, who is known in certain circles as Jerome. The man was apprehended right in the entrance hall, and then they proceeded to search the apartment. As a result, the detectives seized a Mauser pistol, a couple of muskets, gunpowder, and 192 pieces of bladed weapons. Judging by the master's page, these were mainly rapiers, which he forges himself and also collects.

This story would have passed me by unnoticed if not for two "BUTS". First, I am sure you will agree with me that it is hard to believe that at midnight, two representatives of the Azerbaijani elite, engaged in polite conversations about the architecture of the city on the Neva, were caught off guard by a hooligan-reenactor who, for some unclear reason, decided to face charges under Part 2 of Article 162 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, which carries a sentence of 8 to 15 years. Second, I completely understand the person who is called Jerome in certain circles, and moreover, it seems to me that the situation was exactly the opposite. In any case, I believe that this story needs to be urgently brought to the public attention and a максимально objective investigation should be achieved.
