Arthur Morgan lived the life of an ordinary cowboy. He herded cattle, shot coyotes, and saved up for a bigger house. But one day, in a saloon, he drank too much and, as a result of a brawl, stabbed his best friend. He left Mary a widow and 5 children without a father. He tried to atone for his guilt, but he didn't have enough money. Realizing that he couldn't cope with all the new hardships, he decides to end it. After getting drunk, he fell asleep on the tracks, waiting for death. But the engineer managed to notice him and stopped just in time. The engineer listened to his story and advised him to see Dr. Schmerl. So Arthur decided to give himself a second chance.
