Technical issues with Heroes III.

In short, open the submenu through the properties (as Kyle indicated), then a window will appear - "sword and magic properties", divided into 2 sections - "general" and "shortcut", click on the "shortcut" tab and look at the directory (the path where the heroes are installed) in the "working directory" item, there you will find the folders you need.

Also, do the following: open the "Start" menu, then click the "Find" button, then enter the file name start_save.GM1, after finding this file, put it where it needs to be (as described above). There is another sure way.
1. Launch Heroes.
2. Start playing any map.
3. Save, but remember the save name.
4. Click "Start", "Search", "Search files and folders".
5. Enter the name of your save. Click "Start Search".
6. When the save is found, double-click on it with the left mouse button, it should take you to the folder where your saves are stored.
7. Save the save in this folder.
You probably already figured out how to find the map folder.
(just in case: when you save the save, click the button at the top of the screen "up". then you should see a lot of folders, including "maps"... I just suspect that you have the game installed/copied twice...)
